William Grey Chapter

The William Gray chapter was established in 1984 in Booneville, Mississippi and named for patriot William Gray (c1760-c1848). William Gray enlisted in 1778 at Laurens County, SC. He served in the SC Militia for 3 years and fought at the Battle of Kings Mountain, the turning point battle of the Revolutionary War in the South. Patriot William Gray lies at rest with his family in old Gray Town Cemetery, approximately 15 miles NW of Iuka, MS, off Tishomingo Co. Road 388.

On April 20, 2013, The William Gray Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, erected a historical marker in front of the Tishomingo County Courthouse in Iuka, MS, in honor of Patriot William Gray's service in securing America's freedom.
